Dr. Charles Shidlofsky, OD, FOVDR, FNAP

Dr. Charles Shidlofsky was born and raised in Lawrence, New York, and moved to the Dallas area at age 16. He graduated from J.J. Pearce High School in Richardson, Texas in 1980, completed his pre-optometry studies at the University of Texas at Austin in 1984, and went on to earn his BS (1986) and OD (1988) from Southern College of Optometry in Memphis, Tennessee.
Dr. Shidlofsky serves as Clinical Director of Neuro-Vision Associates of North Texas, a specialty clinic serving children and adults with neurological vision issues. He is a member of the medical staff at Baylor Scott and White Institute for Rehabilitation in Frisco, Dallas, and Fort Worth. Throughout his career, he has developed and integrated unique therapies that have helped thousands of children who struggle in school due to vision problems, including those associated with ADD/ADHD, Autism Spectrum Disorder, Sensory Processing Disorders, and challenges with focusing, eye teaming, eye movement, visual-spatial skills, and visual perception. He has also expanded his work to include patients with traumatic and acquired brain injury, stroke, and other neurological processing conditions.
Dr. Shidlofsky holds a Fellowship in Optometrists in Vision Development and Rehabilitation (OVDRA), reflecting his advanced expertise and dedication to the field of vision development and rehabilitation. In 2023, he was inducted as a Distinguished Fellow in the Optometry Academy of the National Academies of Practice during a ceremony in Washington, D.C.
Dr. Shidlofsky currently serves as President of the Neuro-Optometric Rehabilitation Association (NORA), an interdisciplinary organization dedicated to providing patients with physical or cognitive disabilities resulting from acquired brain injury with comprehensive ocular health evaluations and visual rehabilitation services. He is also the Founder and Past President of the International Sports Vision Association, underscoring his pioneering contributions to sports vision for both professional and recreational athletes.
Dr. Shidlofsky serves as an Adjunct Professor of Optometry at Southern College of Optometry, the University of Houston College of Optometry, the University of Incarnate Word-Rosenberg College of Optometry, and Western University College of Optometry.
